The Hidden Life of an Amazon User sheds light on the often invisible, yet very real, exploitation of users by Amazon. The installation exposes the carbon footprint generated by a daily and seemingly harmless action: ordering a book on the platform. Through 9,000 pages of printed code and an interactive website, the work encourages us to rethink our consumption habits and consider the environmental impact of our digital choices in an increasingly automated world.
An artist and researcher based between Barcelona and Berlin, Joana Moll critically examines the role of humans in the age of internet giants and how the narrative of the techno-capitalist industry shapes the literacy of machines, humans, and ecosystems. Her research focuses primarily on the materiality of the internet, surveillance, and environmental issues related to the digital world.
