With a monochrome charcoal aesthetic that pays homage to traditional animation, this intimate story is envisioned as a journey with surrealist undertones. This artistic choice helps to subtly capture the transformation of a world where sensations, communication, and human interaction are forced to reinvent themselves. Emperor also explores the significance of language and words by playing with them, ultimately redrawing a new way to express filial love.

Marion Burger

After graduating in textile design from the École Duperré in 2009 and studying at the Danmarks Designskole in Copenhagen in 2010, she developed a passion for cross-disciplinary creative media, completing her studies in Design and Environments at the Sorbonne in 2011.

Since 2015, she has served as production designer on a dozen feature films, including: Divines by Houda Benyamina (2016 Caméra d’Or), Treat Me Like Fire by Marie Monge (2018 Directors' Fortnight), Gagarine by Jérémy Trouilh and Fanny Liatard (2020 Cannes Official Selection), and Magnetic Beats by Vincent Cardona (2021 Directors' Fortnight).

Alongside her work as a production designer, she is co-writing and co-directing a virtual reality project with Ilan Cohen based on a personal story: EMPEREUR, produced by ATLAS V (currently in development).
