Monolithes est un ensemble de sculptures en béton créées à partir de déchets industriels en polystyrène, transformés par numérisation et processus numériques avant moulage. Chaque sculpture évolue en quatre états, révélant fissures, porosité et colonisation biologique. Installées dans un dispositif optique immersif, elles superposent lumière et reflets pour donner au béton une apparence vivante. Ainsi, l’œuvre propose un « reset » sensoriel, invitant à percevoir la mémoire enfouie du matériau et sa capacité à cohabiter avec la vie littorale.

Monolithes is a series of concrete sculptures created from industrial polystyrene waste, transformed through scanning and digital processes before casting. Each sculpture unfolds through four states, revealing cracks, porosity, and biological colonization. Installed within an immersive optical setup, they layer light and reflections to give the concrete a living appearance. The work thus proposes a sensory “reset,” inviting viewers to perceive the material’s buried memory and its capacity to coexist with coastal life.

Œuvre née du dialogue entre l’artiste Thomas Garnier et le chercheur Philipe Turcry (laboratoire LASIE, La Rochelle Université). Création exclusive du Festival ZERO1, rendue possible grâce à une collaboration avec La Rochelle Université. Cette création s’inscrit dans le cadre du projet EXCELLR (PIA 4 « Excellences sous toutes ses formes ») et est financée dans le cadre de France 2030 portant la référence ANR21EX ES0010.
